AFRICA 4 HER: The 3 day Exhibition

    Africa 4 Her 2

Africa 4 Her, is a programme which was set up by Kunle Adewale, a fellow of The Mandela Washington Fellows. The initiative of the programme originated from his childhood. As a child he watched his mother, who was barely educated, sell food at the road side at Mushin. And it literally broke his heart to watch his mother strife to cater for 210820161879him and his siblings. When it was time for him to further his education to the tertiary level, his father thought it was best he learnt the trade of radio works and repairs, but his mother believing in him made sure to provide money, in any way that she could, to see him through his education. After years of hard work and studies, his mother passes on on the day of his graduation.

So now, since he wasn’t able to pay his mother back for all she had done for him, he decided to build a platform where he can empower young women and girls to stay strong and independent, also to be able to use what they have to create what is not and to help the society around them. 200820161822

And Thus Africa 4 Her was born.

On 20th August 2016 the very first Africa 4 Her Art Exhibition Lagos, Nigeria, in Terra Kulture, VI. It held from the 20th to the 22nd of August. It was a wonderful exhibition, having girls as low as the age of 6 showing of their beautiful work on inspiring females in their life and of what their take is on womanhood.

I was there myself and my sister Valerie Fab-Uche got to be among the 100 lucky girls chosen to display their gifts.
