SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK LAGOS

Hi everyone welcome back to my blog. Today I’m going to show you all my little adventure to the just concluded Social Media week.

Social Media Week is a week which was set aside to bring those involved in the digital world together to discuss and learn how they could use the internet as a platform in creating awareness on either their business or whatsoever they are passionate about. Social Media week was hosted at Landmark Event centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on February 27th – March 3rd.

I attended The Beat 99.9fm Music Conference, Hair We Go and Spice: Communicating Africa’s Fashion Story.

On the 1st of March I attended 2 forums. The first was The Beat 99.9fm Music Conference: How Afrobeats Is Shaping The Global Sound. The speakers were Sipho Dlamini, Obi Asika, Audu Maikori, D’Banj, DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Spinall, DJ K, etc Where they discussed the future & recognition of African Music. They also spoke about Music as a field in business.

Hair We Go! Technology & The Natural Hair Movement, was the second forum I attended on the 1st of March with Nnennaya Fakoya-Smith owner of Periodotlady blog and her sister Kiki Uzowulu Chief Operating Officer of Sodas & Popcorn and owner of The Witty Ingedinous blog. We had a wonderful session learning about Social media and its effect to the Natural hair movement. Making us understand that the social media has given natural haired people a voice in sharing their journey, helping those who need answers to maintain and styling their own natural hair.

On the Second of March 2017, I attended the Spice: Communicating Africa’s Fashion Story. They spoke generally about African style and how it could be seen as different. How particular Materials have become a tag on Africans (as our style of dressing). Fashion in Africa has become such a huge way to telling our heritage and different things about our cultures that differ from the rest of the world. Our way of dressing has grown so big and is now being dubbed by other areas in the world.

I had a good time for those two days, I think mostly cause I drank 8 cups of coffee on the first day and got to see D’Banj. I also got a chance to have a lovely discussion with one of the organizers of Social Media Week, she has such a fun spirit. She told me all about how Social media week started in New York and how it came to be in Nigeria.

Here are two outfits I wore at the Social media Week.
